So far, the Fall hasn’t been what we planned. We could blame it on a ton of things, but, better to reload and get ready for next spring. We even fell behind on our Fall poultry harvest. Our broilers went a little longer than we planned (2 weeks) causing us to feed more than we planned, etc, etc. Eventually they got done. We were pretty down those extra weeks as problem after problem occurred and all of our shortcomings started compounding those problems. The main issue was not having the proper equipment, properly working and properly in place. We slowly processed while waiting on equipment that is diffucult to get this year. Finally all the parts arrived. Our new scalder, holding temperature at 145 degrees and our plucker with a sufficient electrical load, worked so well together that Audra and I finished 50 chickens Monday afternoon with just ourselves working on them. It then took all night (till early morning) to finish bagging, weighing, and labeling the chickens. Tuesday morning Audra and I felt like the world was off of our shoulders. Of course, it was never really on our shoulders. Just seemed that way. Just another reminder, weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. – Jamie.
